Pianist, organist, and conductor Brian De Young is a musician of broad skills and interests ranging from Renaissance and Baroque to musical theatre and new classical music. He is Campus Ministry Musician and Collaborative Pianist at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, where he also served as Interim Director of Choirs for two years and received an Outstanding Staff Award in 2026 for his work with chapel music.

An active freelance chamber musician, he has performed with members of the Chicago Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Grand Rapids (Michigan) Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and more at festivals and recital series around the country. Brian maintains an active teaching schedule, and has instructed many award-winning piano and voice students.

As a choral artist, Brian has sung with the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus, Minnesota Renaissance Choir, Kantorei, The Summer Singers, and the Italian Baroque ensemble Consortium Carissimi. He has conducted church and community choirs in five states, and is currently Music Director at Trinity Lutheran Congregation on the campus of Augsburg University and Associate Music Director at Ocean Park Chautauqua-by-the-Sea in Maine.

Brian studied organ performance at Dordt University in Iowa, church music at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Ohio, and piano pedagogy at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Prior to Augsburg, he served on the piano faculties at Grand Valley and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
